  • It's a head-light racket with quick shuttle release. I think it'll suit people who like a crisp, repulsive feel.
    It's maneuverable and swings lightly, but on the other hand it's clearly not for people who want to hit heavy smashes using the head weight.
    Isn't it perfect for people who attack with fast-tempo drives, or who want to get their racket on the shuttle a lot in the front court?
    For players whose style is to break opponents down from defense, its easy maneuverability also supports your receiving.
    It's not stiff, but it's by no means a soft racket. It's for men's doubles players.

  • Since I ended up owning both this and the SX9900, I compared them. Both are strung with the same thin-gauge string on the soft side at 21 lbs. When you simply hold them, the SX9000 is heavier by the difference in weight. The SX9900 is 7U-320 mm (balance point) and the SX9000 is 6U-310 mm, so I assumed they'd feel about the same when swung, but the SX9000 clearly has more heft. The head works more, the feel is somewhat firmer, and the shuttle release is good. Smashes in particular are easy to put power into and come out properly heavy. I'm a typical defensive player who mainly plays doubles and doesn't have much attacking power, so I've decided to mainly use the SX9900, which favors quick hands and maneuverability. That said, the SX9000 is still a light enough racket, so for attacking players who also value maneuverability, it's a strong option.

  • It's the shuttle with by far the most usage in city, ward and town tournaments.
    It flies cleanly, pleasantly and naturally, doesn't break easily, rarely gets "frayed," and has high durability.
    You can rarely buy it cheaply, so these days when shuttle prices are rising across the board, I think it's a bit of a high hurdle for beginner to intermediate adult clubs. It basically doesn't break easily, and advanced players won't wastefully hit the side of the feathers and break it, so the durability can more than make up for the cost. It's a shuttle "for intermediate to advanced players."

  • It's head-heavy, but it's a light racket to begin with, so the maneuverability is outstanding. Smashes get a moderate boost from the head, too. However, the shaft is soft, so in terms of hitting response it's a somewhat mild racket. On the flip side, it generally flies well even if you're not strong. Women who aren't power players, whether defensive or attacking, may not find it lacking even at the intermediate level, but hard-hitting male players may find it unsatisfying.
    It's been discontinued, so prices have come down. A bargain for people who rely on the flex of the shaft to hit deep.

  • It's a Grade 1 approved shuttle that's often used in city, ward and town tournaments around where I live.
    The price is no different from YONEX NEW OFFICIAL, but many shops give you one free tube of Thomas Cup shuttles for every five you buy, and in that case I think the price becomes reasonable for a Grade 1 approved shuttle.
    When new, it flies naturally, just as you'd expect of a Grade 1 approved shuttle, and especially if you hit a high clear properly, it comes straight down from above. There's little variation between shuttles, but as rallies go on it seems to get "frayed" easily, and I get the impression its flight stability drops off a bit early. It definitely doesn't break easily, so I think it's no problem for advanced players to use.
