  • It's a racket with lots of fans, and it seems many people use it even at local municipal tournaments, regardless of gender or level from beginner to advanced. It's head-light with good maneuverability, and the light release of the shuttle typical of the NANORAY series leads to crisp drives and pushes. It has a "just right" moderate stiffness, so it's easy to handle for both overhead and underhand shots. It doesn't have the stiffness or difficulty of the 800 or 900, so it's probably a strong candidate for the next racket after a beginner model, especially for those who want to polish their front court play in doubles. If someone returning to the court after a long time, who used to use an AEROTUS or NANOSPEED, asks me "what's good?", recommending this one is almost always a safe bet.
    The 700RP, released around the same time, was a stiff, quirky racket and dropped out of the catalog early, but I think this one still offers first-class ease of handling.

  • This is a Grade 1 approved shuttle that is also used at city and town tournaments.
    Both its flight and durability are good in normal use. It is durable and breaks down naturally, rarely losing a feather in a single hit, so it offers excellent value for money. Compared with NEW OFFICIAL, the feel is slightly lighter, but it is not that different. Since you can get a Grade 1 approved shuttle more cheaply, it is one I would actively choose for game practice before important tournaments.

  • Since OFFICIAL was discontinued, it seems to be widely used by adult clubs that used to use OFFICIAL.
    It is durable, so you go through fewer shuttles in game practice. Especially in women's doubles game practice, at an intermediate level you can keep using it for quite a while without it breaking. The flight has YONEX's reliable quality, and I do not notice any variation between shuttles.
    The difference from NEW OFFICIAL is something you can feel, especially in durability, but I do not think it is that dramatic in normal use. For a typical beginner-to-intermediate adult club, you could say there is "nothing" beyond the reassurance that comes from the color of the approval sticker.

  • It's the pioneer of the 5U head-heavy rackets that every maker now offers a full lineup of. This one has also become quite a long seller.
    The fairly flexible shaft is easy on the elbow, but it's not lacking in backbone, and it suits the smash swing speed of beginner-to-intermediate men and women players just right. It's also easy to receive with, so it's an all-rounder. I think the light weight of a 5U head-heavy racket and its balance that makes it easy to use the head are really "just right" for regular doubles players. Maneuverability at the net isn't bad either. On the other hand, it may feel lacking for advanced players with fast swing speeds.
    There are many rivals among rackets in this range: from Babolat there's the X-ACT INFINITY SUPERLITE, from Wilson the P3600, and YONEX itself has the latest ASTROX 55, so there's plenty of choice. They all differ in stiffness, characteristics and price, so even beginner-to-intermediate players will clearly notice the differences if they try them side by side, and I think you should just pick the one that fits you best.

  • This is a Thomas Cup Grade 2 approved shuttle. I bought it as a game-practice shuttle. Its flight is true and there is no variation between individual shuttles. Compared with other Grade 2 shuttles like YONEX AEROSENSA 700 or GOSEN EMERALD, the feel is a little light. It flies well, but its durability is a bit lacking, and I feel our shuttle consumption at practice sessions tends to run high. In particular, once the feathers start getting frayed, the flight seems to become suddenly unstable, so I think we end up replacing them more often.
    Many shops give you one extra tube when you buy five tubes of Thomas Cup shuttles, so in that case the fair comparison may be shuttles in the 3,000-yen class. Thinking of it that way, I think its advantage in flight is clear enough.
