  • I happened to be reading reviews of the 8.5SX on Badonavi, thought this might be it, and bought it right away.
    Impressions from basic drills
    Clear: The sweet spot feels a little small, and if you're slightly off center it clearly doesn't fly as far.
    High backhand: High backhands are easy to hit.
    Drop: Nice control and easy to make the shuttle sink.
    Drive: Even in fast rallies, I don't feel late and can hit strong shots.
    Push: Like the drive, it's easy to maneuver, so it's very easy to hit.
    Push receive: It doesn't get overpowered easily by the opponent's hard hits, and I can hit strong receives.
    Smash: If you're not used to it, the shuttle floats. Compared with the Z-FORCE II the destructive power is a bit lower, but I think you can hit pretty good smashes. It leaves less fatigue than the Z-FORCE II.
    Smash receive: Quite easy to hit. It feels like you could hit smash counters too.
    Hairpin: I'm bad at hairpins, so no comment.
    Overall: My impression is that it's like a slightly milder Z-FORCE II?
    I think it's a racket I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking for a 4U head-heavy racket.

  • Maneuverability is great, and it's a very easy racket to hit with.
    I think it's down to my technique, but my smashes aren't as heavy as the sound of the hit would suggest.
    Still, overall it's a well-balanced racket, so I like it.

  • It felt like my smashes became shots that don't lose speed easily. My favorite point is that if you hit it cleanly, you can hit sharp counter shots too. Maybe I'm just clumsy, but it somehow felt hard to maneuver in front of the net; that's about the only minus point for me. It's a racket I recommend for people who want to hit strong shots.

  • I'd been curious about this brand since TAI TZU YING uses it. I happened to be able to buy it really cheap, so I started using it. First, I was drawn to the design and the specs: head-heavy and on the stiff side. I'm basically a doubles player, and my first impression is that it's easy to use at both the front court and the rear court. It feels somewhat similar to my top pick, the Z-FORCE 2, but this one feels easier to swing. I think the Z-FORCE 2 has better repulsion. I think it's a racket for attacking players.
    I'm sure there are definitely people who'll find this one better once they get used to it. I think that comes down to preference.
    It's a discontinued model, so I'm thinking I might buy another one if I can find it used.
