  • I normally use the ARCSABER 11 and bought the ASTROX 99 out of curiosity.
    I also have an ASTROX 77, but its shaft felt a little flexible, so I got interested in the 99 because, despite being an advanced racket, its shaft isn't that stiff (it's more flexible than the ASTROX 88D or DUORA 10).

    I'm using the 4UG6.
    It's one of the most head-heavy rackets even among YONEX models, yet the weight didn't bother me at all.
    The shaft is stiffer than the ARCSABER 11, so I feel it takes some getting used to before I can send the shuttle deep consistently.
    My impression is that smashes go in solidly even when hit lightly.

  • I'm in my 9th year of badminton and have used this racket continuously since my 3rd year.
    It's billed as an advanced racket, but the shaft is only slightly stiff, which feels just right for me.
    When it first came out, I think it was marketed on its defense. It really is easy to defend with, and I enjoy building the game from defense myself, so it seems a good match.
    It's also easy to attack with; truly an honor-student racket.

    For strings, I've used BG66 ULTIMAX, AEROBITE and AEROBITE BOOST at 24 lbs.
    AEROBITE seems to match well with the not-too-stiff shaft and the way it bites into the shuttle.
    AEROBITE BOOST felt like it had no repulsion at all; it didn't suit my body and I hurt my shoulder.
