  • These are my impressions after test-hitting the 4U.
    Even the 4U is super head-heavy, so you feel the weight. The shaft is stiff and the face is small, so you need the strength to bend a stiff shaft and the experience to hit the sweet spot reliably. But once you get it swinging, you can use the centrifugal force to crush the shuttle with power smashes. It is hard on your body, but I think it is a wonderful racket.

  • I use the 4UG5.
    The manufacturer recommends it for advanced players, but I feel that even intermediate players could level up with it. It is an all-purpose racket that is good on attack, good on defense, and handles technique too.
    With the 4U, you might be surprised how light it is, to the point you do not feel the head-heavy balance.
    Its smashes rate highly for sharpness and control rather than weight. It really grips the shuttle, so you can take aim and hit. For weight and power, the 88D or 99 have more.
    It also makes delicate movements at the net easy. If you are a control player, I would recommend stringing it with AEROBITE. The design is flashy but very cool, so I highly recommend it.

    It is one of the most head-heavy rackets in the YONEX lineup, so I think the 4U is plenty. You can make use of the head weight, and overhead shots carry really well. I was impressed by how far the smashes carry. I did not feel the shaft was that stiff. The ASTROX 88D is stiffer. True to its selling point of continuous power hitting, you can take aim and hit powerful smashes every time.

  • Thanks to the high control performance that is typical of the ARCSABER series, even beginners can enjoy rallies. It is 3U with an even balance, so you may feel some weight, but the shaft is flexible, so you can send the shuttle far with little power. I recommend it as your first racket.

  • I have never seen anyone string it at 35 lbs, but since it can take up to 35, you can feel safe even at high tension. The frame is fairly thick, so it is very rigid. The forehand face is designed to give a softer feel, but the shaft is still stiff, so you need power. I would recommend it to hard hitters.
